The world is crazy right now, people are crazy. As I try to view everything as a positive, it's very hard to pull positives out of anything right now. The world seems to be crumbling around us and there doesn't seem to be much we can do about it.
There is, of course, a lot of negatives about this whole situation. But there're many positives. The mass talked about pictures of Venice and its canals being clear for the first time in many years. Its canals being populated by fish and even dolphins making an appearance. I've seen carbon graphs placed over different parts of the world, and the results of the world slowing down/stopping are absolutely astonishing. My mind can't help but wander into a space and time where we could all learn from this and start doing things properly.
To my point, there are many positives. But we can't just sit on this and let this roll passed and say "ohhhh, it's water under the bridge, let's move on". Or "Shit, that was a close one ehh, haha better luck next time corona". There has to be some sort of realization on our part. Not just you and I, but everyone, around the world and at different levels of society. We are doing things wrong. This has to be the kick in the b@!!$ that makes people realize this. What I mean by that is, I've seen so many times in my short life of 23 years, that we as individuals and as a society need to be absolutely flattened to make a change. Whether that change is individually or politically. I personally believe this is and will be a moment in history where we will be temporarily flattened. But we all have the power to put a change to this. To make history.
Embrace this time off, take some time every day and look around. Not just on the news, but reflect to yourself or whoever you have around you and talk about all of this. Gain different perspectives on this whole situation, because I can guarantee that you, nor does anyone else have the answer right now. This is something incredible that is happening in history, it's a breaking point, a judgment call if you will. People will lose loved ones, if you are one of them, I'm so sorry and my heart goes out to you fully. But we all need to understand what's going on, it's way bigger than you and I. We need to start truly understanding how precious life is, and not just our life as humans, but everything around us. We are one, people high in society and low, animals, plants, trees, water, everything. It takes everything and everyone to make our world survive, no different than your office, jobsite, hospital or wherever you work. If you want to be blunt and honest about things... Really we as people are the only thing that is disposable. Think of it this way, if we all died tomorrow the world wouldn't sweat a drop. Things would keep running as usual and frankly a lot better.
I didn't write this to be an activist about nature or anything, nor do I consider myself as one. I, like many people out there have an opinion, and I've just chosen to voice mine, because I feel like it's important. Maybe I can reach some of you, and maybe I can't. But I think the world is giving us a sign, and as a society, we should be taking this in and understanding it's not you vs me, it is simply life. We need to start taking everything into consideration. I know, I have started doing this more and more as each day passes.
Please be safe out there people, stay inside if you can. If you're like me and having to go out and work in the public understand the precautions and follow them. It's time to flatten the curve and start acting differently.
Thank you to all who took the time to read this.
